(Paso Robles, CA) - Heritage Oaks Bank recently donated a vehicle to the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. (CAPSLO), a non-profit, public benefit corporation.
“Heritage Oaks Bank is passionate about its involvement in the communities we serve,” says Ronald E. Oliveira, President/Chief Operating Officer, Heritage Oaks Bank. “By making this vehicle donation we are striving to assist with some of the fundamental necessities in San Luis Obispo County by providing quality mobile health screening services for seniors,” adds Oliveira.
“There may be no other program of Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County that reaches across to touch every city and town throughout our county than our Health and Preventive Division’s Senior Health Screening (SHS) program. It’s a place where uninsured and underinsured persons, ages 50 and older, can go to have quality face time with a health professional at no fee,” says Elizabeth “Biz” Steinberg, Chief Executive Officer, Community Action Partnerships of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. “Our nurse travels to churches and community centers from north to south and this wonderful hybrid car provided by Heritage Oaks Bank is going to make it feasible and economical for her to hop from town to town. It’s so nice to have fine local partners like Heritage Oaks Bank in our community,” adds Steinberg.
CAPSLO’s mission is “to empower individuals and families to achieve economic self-sufficiency and self-determination through a comprehensive array of community-based programs and actions.” The Health and Prevention Division’s mission is “to foster personal health and empowerment through access, advocacy and education.”
Since 1978, SHS has provided quality mobile health screening services, supported vulnerable senior citizens in their neighborhoods and identified serious health conditions. In 2010, 1,239 SHS clinic visits were provided to 556 seniors. More than 200 seniors accessed SHS services for the first-time, indicating continued need for and repeat use of health screening services.
