Customer Alert: Fraudulent E-Mails Claim to be from the Federal Reserve Board and IRS - 09/07/11

Heritage Oaks Bank has received numerous reports of fraudulent emails that have the appearance of being from the Federal Reserve Board.

The fraudulent e-mails are from "tax@irs.gov".

The message appears as follows:

Subject line: "Transfer Rejected"

Message body:

"The outgoing Wire fund transfer, an hour ago sent from your checking account, was not processed by an intemediary or beneficiary bank.

Please click here to view report."

Financial institutions and consumers should be aware that fraudulent e-mails such as this may be modified over time with other subject lines, sender names, and narratives. Please avoid clicking on this e-mail link and delete the message if you receive it.
