Since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, exactly one month ago today, aid is beginning to reach those who need it. More individuals and organizations have mobilized to continue raising money for relief efforts including those in our local community.
In only 9 days the students and staff of Tunnell Elementary School in Santa Maria raised over $1,000 to send to Haiti. Heritage Oaks Bank was thrilled to help the school with their coin collection.
Patsy and her 3rd grade class won a root beer float party for the most donations collected by any one class; they raised $250.00 alone. "It was awe inspiring to see how the children reacted when they viewed the devastation of Haiti from Google Earth,” says Patsy Mitchell, Teacher, Tunnell Elementary School.
“The staff here at the San Luis Obispo, Downtown Office were happy to help the students from Tunnell Elementary School. We appreciate their work raising the money for the children of Haiti and applaud their efforts,” says Terry Detrick, Branch Manager, Heritage Oaks Bank.
