SECURITY ALERT: Malware Targeting U.S. Banks & Credit Unions
IBM Trusteer has recently issued a security alert regarding a new and dangerous financial malware variant currently named Goznym. Heritage Oaks Bank is not aware of any customers that have been affected by this, but we want you to be aware of it so you can take any steps necessary to ensure your account security.
This malware attempts an account takeover of an end users online banking session in order to commit fraud. Infection methods usually include clicking on links in spam emails or opening infected MS Word documents. To protect your account information:
- Make sure your malware and virus scan software is up to date.
- Never open emails or documents or click on links from unknown sources.
